Learn about the two types of pellet therapy and how to get started with subcutaneous pellets using bio-identical hormone replacement therapy in BioTE® Medical's Frequently Asked Questions!

What is pellet therapy?

BioTE® edical offers bio-identical hormone replacement therapy in the form of subcutaneous pellets. We offer two kinds of pellets: both estradiol pellets and testosterone pellets. These pellets are inserted into the hip area during an in-office visit after testing has been done to determine the exact quantity of the hormone each patient requires. Every dose is custom created based on your tests to ensure you have the exact number of hormones needed over time.

It is said that bio-identical hormones, such as the ones used by BioTE® Medical, work better with the natural chemistry of the body because they most closely replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that naturally occur within the body.

How long do pellets last?

Pellets last between 3 and 6 months depending on gender, weight, absorption rates and the amount of deficiency or surplus of hormones present within the patient at the time of administration. Pellets are reinserted between 2 and 4 times per year to help keep hormones optimized and balanced.

What is the primary advantage to BHRT pellet therapy?

Pellet therapy differs from pills and creams in that it allows for consistent dosing throughout the day. Other administrations of hormones can create a rollercoaster effect for the user as the pills and creams do not release consistent amounts of the hormone throughout the day.

What is the advantage to bio-identical hormones over synthetic hormones?

It is said that bio-identical hormones, such as the ones used by BioTE® Medical work better with the natural chemistry of the body because they most closely replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that naturally occur within the body.
